Routine - Do It Yourself - DIY
Yes you can, competing in Fitness or any other comp
doesn't have to mean you pay someone to do everything
for you. Some girls do, some pay for their music to
be done by someone, their routines to be done by someone,
their hair to be done by someone, their makeup to be
done by someone. I mean that's just crazy, you're not
winning a million dollars you know, it's not that hard
do it yourself and save yourself a fortune!!
So how do you choreograph your own routine????
First, you need to know your strengths and weaknesses,
what tricks can you do? Have a list of moves you want
to add to your routine, also a list of "filler"
moves, things that transition you between your tricks.
Second, you need to get your piece of music average
routines are 90 seconds. Then you need to Map your music,
if you've never done it before, do it a few times so
you don't loose any beats. Mapping is usually in blocks
of 8's that way you can match your choreography to your
music.
You'll need a big sheet of paper leave room under the
blocks of 8 for your moves.
Pick a start move, position, trick whatever you like.
Listen to your music, use the beats, high and low and
match your choreography to it.
Work at it over and over and over and over.
Try to avoid changes in the last week before the competion,
it's very tempting but often a disaster.
